Donating to Scholarships
Working a job while attending college is a time-honored American tradition that builds a student's character and reinforces learning; a majority of SCC students do in fact work to support their educational goals. However, studies show that students who have to work more than 15 or 20 hours per week while attending college often have greater challenges staying on track or keeping up their grades. This in turn increases the chances that they will eventually drop out before they complete a degree.
In partnership with the Santiago Canyon College Foundation and its Board of Directors, you can help ensure that students at SCC succeed in realizing their academic goals, regardless of their economic circumstances, by donating to our scholarship programs.
LISTED BELOW ARE THE MANY WAYS YOU CAN INVEST IN OUR STUDENTS
Contribute Any Amount to an Existing Scholarship Fund
There are many scholarship funds at SCC to which you can contribute, including scholarships for STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) majors, veterans, Guardian Scholars (emancipated foster youth), books, athletics, art majors and continuing education. If you don't have any particular criteria, you can easily donate to our general scholarship fund. To make a donation, click here. Not sure where to donate? Email foundation@sccollege.edu or call 714-628-4790 with your preferences and a staff member will happily guide you through the process.
Set Up a Named Annual Scholarship
With a pledge of at least $500 or more every year for at least five years, you can name a scholarship in honor or memory of an individual or in honor of an organization. As a named scholarship donor, you will be honored every year at our annual Scholarship Donor Reception in late May, where you will have an opportunity to meet your student scholarship recipient. Overall, it's a great experience and an excellent way to learn first-hand how really life-changing your scholarship gift can be to a student. To find out more about this program, email foundation@sccollege.edu or call 714-628-4790, and we’ll contact you with more information.

Set Up an Endowed Scholarship
With a gift of $15,000 or more, you can fund an endowment that will provide scholarships to SCC students in perpetuity. The funds you donate are invested responsibly and a percentage of the earnings is withdrawn annually to provide a scholarship to a student or students. Working with a foundation staff member, you can name and develop the criteria for the scholarship. You will also be our honored guest at the annual Scholarship Donor Reception and Awards Ceremony in May, where you can meet the student recipient of your scholarship. For more information on setting up an endowed scholarship, please email foundation@sccollege.edu or call 714-628-4790.
Send a Scholarship Award to Santiago Canyon College on Behalf of a Student
Corporations, non-profits, and public institutions and auxiliaries (e.g., high schools, associated student government organizations, etc.) may send scholarships to Santiago Canyon College on behalf of students registered at the college. A student applies directly to your organization for a scholarship through your own application process and you award the scholarship, which you then send to the college on behalf of the student. Our institution refers to this type of scholarship as a One-Time Scholarship (OTS). Unlike scholarships awarded through SCC’s own freshman or annual scholarship committee structure and paid by the foundation, OTS scholarships are processed immediately in accordance with the policies and procedures established by the SCC Scholarship Office and not recognized at our annual scholarship ceremony. To send a scholarship award to SCC on behalf of a student who has applied to your organization directly, please make the check payable to Santiago Canyon College Foundation and mail it to: Santiago Canyon College, Attn: SCC Foundation Office, 8045 E. Chapman Ave., Room A-213, Orange, CA 92869-4512. Please include the student’s college ID number or other information (date of birth or last four digits of the Social Security number) that can be used to match the scholarship with the intended student recipient.
